Christina Wood

Hello My Name Is...

Christy Wood

ESOL Teacher

This is my 20th year of teaching and my 6th year at Bess T. Shepherd Elementary teaching ESOL.  I love working with children and learning about the different cultures at our school.  ESOL stands for English Speakers of Other Languages.  In my classroom I work with students in K-2 who are learning to read, write, listen, and speak in English.  We do this in a variety of hands on methods and movement so that the children will learn quickly and remember what they are learning.

I graduated from the University of North Texas in 1999 with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education.  I taught in Lewisville ISD in the Dallas, Texas area for 14 years before my family moved to Tennessee in 2012.  I have 2 boys who love sports, Legos, and Xbox.  My husband is Caesar Wood and he works at UTC.

In my free time I like reading books, working on genealogy, camping, and spending time with my family.

Please feel free to contact me at either [email protected] or 423-855-2611 with any concerns/comments that you have.  I look forward to working with your child.
